There are numerous opportunities to grow or change your business to increase revenues. The matrix in Figure 7.1 shows four methods to leverage your product or service and to leverage your customer base.

This is your current position. The question here is whether you want to move into one or more of the other boxes to grow your company. If yes, the other three boxes provide options to consider.
If you choose to stay in this quadrant, competitive intelligence will help you maintain or increase your current position. It will alert executives to opportunities, the likelihood of success, market drivers, openness to a new vendor, near-term changes, and potential barriers and unknown considerations.
